David’s Daily Devotion for Mar. 15

March 15, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Friday, March 15.

I love to teach and relish any opportunity to do it. Each Sunday I'm blessed to be the Bible study teacher in the broadcast ministry of First Baptist Church of Center, Texas. Whenever you're unable to attend your church in person, I welcome you to join my 9am lesson and our 10:15 worship service, streaming at fbccenter.org.

Being a student of the Bible is a life-long pursuit, a life-long commitment. I hope that you spend time in the Word every day. Here's some study suggestions that might make that time more productive and more meaningful.

*Research the passage. Who wrote it? Who was it written to? What was it written for? What was the historical and cultural environment in which it was written? Answering these questions gives context, and context gives understanding.

*Read the passage several times. Repetition is a wonderful teaching tool. Give your heart and mind time to digest God's truth.

*Meditate on the passage. Be still. Be quiet. Allow the Holy Spirit the opportunity to teach you.

*Pray over the passage. You need God's power to perceive God's Word. Ask Him for it.

*Return to the passage. Can you think of even one ability that you have that you mastered in one moment? The things that matter deserve our continued attention over time, and what matters more than the Bible.

Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed. 2 Timothy 2:15

Meet you back here on Monday,
