David’s Daily Devotion for Sept. 20

September 20, 2022 - Good Morning!  It's Tuesday, September 20.

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound . . .

The word “grace” is found 170 times in the Bible. One of those verses is John 1:17, “For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” We typically think of grace as a New Testament concept, but 20 of those grace scriptures are in the Old Testament. Verses like Genesis 6:8, “Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord,” and Psalm 84:11, “The Lord gives grace and glory.”

Webster defines grace as “unmerited favor.” I like this quote - “Grace is the opposite of karma, which is all about getting what you deserve. Grace is all about getting what you don’t deserve.” American theologian Gresham Machen thought grace was “the center and core of the whole Bible.” Christian author Max Lucado calls it “God’s best idea.”

Hebrews 4:16 - “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

Meet you back here tomorrow,
