David’s Daily Devotion for September 11

September 11, 2026 - Good Morning. It’s Friday, September 11.

A moment in time. Sudden. Shocking. A nation mourns. A nation changed.

For my parent’s generation, that moment came on December 7, 1941. At 7:48 AM that day, on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, Japanese bombs began to fall. They fell on a U.S. naval base named Pearl. And 2,403 people were killed.

For my generation, that moment came on November 22, 1963. At 12:30 PM that day, in downtown Dallas, the sound of three rifle shots rang out. They echoed in a plaza named Dealey. And one man was dead.

For my children’s generation, that moment came on September 11, 2001. At 8:46 AM that day, in New York City, a United Airlines jet flew into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. 17 minutes later another passenger plane hit the South Tower. At 9:37 it happened at the Pentagon in Washington. And 26 minutes after that, Flight 93, bound for the U.S. Capitol, crashed in a field in rural Pennsylvania, brought down by heroic passengers. In just a little over an hour, 2,977 souls were lost.

A moment in time. Sudden. Shocking. A nation mourns. A nation changed.

God bless America.

Meet you back here on Monday,
David
