David's Daily Devotion for April 28

April 28, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, April 28.

Our local library is having its annual spring book sale today, and I'm on my way! And I’m thinking about my favorite book.

On April 28, 1926, a girl was born in Monroeville, Alabama. Her name was Harper Lee. 1926 was the year my mother was born. Two southern girls. But Lee grew up to become one of the most celebrated and honored American authors in history.

In 1960 she published “To Kill a Mockingbird.” In 1961 it won the Pulitzer Prize. In 1962 it was turned into an Oscar-winning movie. I reread it every few years and it always opens my mind and blesses my heart. Here’s some little nuggets from my favorite book -

  • People usually see what they’re looking for, and hear what they listen for.
  • The one thing that doesn’t abide by majority rule is a person’s conscience.
  • You never really understand a man until you consider things from his point of view, until you crawl inside his skin and walk around in it.
  • I think there’s just one kind of folks. Folks.
  • Things are always better in the morning.

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
