David's Daily Devotion for Aug. 8

August 8, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, August 8.

Yesterday, First Baptist Center honored the teachers of our area. During our morning service, educators came forward and formed a line from one side of the sanctuary to the other.

We gave each of them a gift and lifted them up in prayer. It was a memorable moment.

We also encouraged our church members to continue to pray daily for our teachers. We handed out staff roster lists for each campus so that we could pray for our educators - by name. So much of the time our prayers are filled with generalities - “God bless all the missionaries”, “God protect all the children”. And, while there is power in every prayer, there is a unique power when we pray for someone by name.

Have you ever taken scripture verses, inserted a familiar name in them, and prayed them back to God? Here's an example -

John 3:16 - For God so loved Jimmy, that He gave His only begotten Son, that if Jimmy believes in Him, then Jimmy would not perish and Jimmy would have everlasting life.

Isaiah 26:3 - Keep Kristin in perfect peace, whose name is stayed on You, because Kristin trusts in You.

2 Timothy 1:7 - For God has not given David a spirit of fear, but of peace, and of love, and of a sound mind. Try it!

Meet you back here tomorrow,
