David's Daily Devotion for August 30

August 30, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Friday, August 30.

Bro. David is on vacation this week and is reposting some favorite devotions. This one first aired on December 6, 2020.

The first issue of the Scientific American magazine hit the presses in 1845. It remains the oldest continuously published periodical in U.S. history. On the morning of December 6, 1877, a man walked into the magazine's New York City office . . . and made history.

The man's name was Thomas Edison, and he was there that morning to demonstrate a new invention. He set up his equipment and, with no words of introduction, turned it on. The invention proceeded to say, "Good morning! How are you? How do you like the phonograph?". This was the first time in the history of the world that man had heard recorded sound. Imagine what it must have been like to be in that room at that moment.

Imagine what it must have been like - to stand on a battlefield in the Valley of Elah when a boy killed a giant.

Imagine what it must have been like - to sit in a fishing boat on the Sea of Galilee when a man walked on water.

Imagine what it must have been like - to gather in a field in Bethlehem when angels sang to shepherds.

Imagine what it must have been like - to kneel before an old rugged cross when the sun refused to shine.

Amazing moments in history. Keep your eyes open today. God may have an amazing moment prepared for you.

Have a great Labor Day weekend! Meet you back here on Tuesday with a brand-new devotion.
