David's Daily Devotion for December 5

December 5, 2024 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, December 5.

There’s a place in Wyoming, high up in the Teton Mountains, called Two Oceans Pass. In that place, situated atop the Continental Divide, there is a small stream that divides into two creeks. The creek on the left joins up with the Mississippi River and flows through the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean. The creek on the right connects to the Colombia River and ends up in the Atlantic. This place is called “The Parting of the Waters.” A small, seemingly unimportant place that, eventually, has tremendous and monumental impact.

Looking back, can you pinpoint some “parting of the waters” moments in your life? Small, seemingly unimportant decisions that, eventually, had tremendous and monumental impact on you. Moments when you chose to turn left instead of right, when you chose to say yes instead of no. We can probably all identify times like that. And we probably have moments like that awaiting us in the future. We can take comfort and instruction from the words of King Solomon in Proverbs 3:5 - “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.”

Perhaps there’s a parting of the waters moment waiting you today. Surround that decision with prayer. Allow God to be your Spiritual Guidance System. Let Him direct your path.

Meet you back here tomorrow,

David
