David's Daily Devotion for December 8

December 8, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, December 8.

There are some Christmas songs that really don't have anything to do with Christmas. "Jingle Bells" doesn't mention gifts or Santa or Rudolph - it's just a song about winter fun - but what would Christmas be without it! "Joy to the World" isn't inspired by Luke Chapter Two, it's based on the 98th Psalm - but what would Christmas be without it! This morning we look at a song that we sing all year round, but that most people don't realize is a Christmas song.

In 1955, Christmas Day fell on a Sunday, as it will this year.. Audrey Mieir was in a little church in California that morning, a church that had been decorated with fresh evergreen boughs. The choir loft had been transformed into a stable, and the children of the little church had been enlisted to portray the nativity characters. As Audrey sat in her pew, she was overcome by the smells, the sights, the sounds - overcome by the presence of the Spirit of God.

And then, as the simple pageant ended, the pastor rose to his feet, walked to the pulpit, raised his arms, and proclaimed - AND HIS NAME SHALL BE CALLED WONDERFUL! That was all the inspiration that Audrey needed. She began to write down the lyrics and music for a new song on the fly leaf of her Bible - a song of praise, a song of worship, a song of Christmas.

His Name is Wonderful, His name is Wonderful, His name is Wonderful, Jesus my Lord
He is the Mighty King, Master of everything, His name is Wonderful, Jesus my Lord
He's the Great Shepherd, the. Rock of all Ages, Almighty God is He
Bow down before Him, Love and adore Him, His name is Wonderful, Jesus my Lord!

For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called WONDERFUL!

Meet you back here tomorrow,
