February 24, 2023 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, February 24.
This coming Sunday is a special day at First Baptist Center - it’s Baby Dedication Day! We’ll see parent’s bring their newborns and toddlers and children forward to our pastor at the altar, and we’ll offer up a special prayer of blessing. Reminds me of the story in Mark 10.
"People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them."
It's so easy for us to see ourselves in the actions of the disciples - they were always getting things wrong! But, in this story, Jesus urges us to see ourselves through the eyes of children. He wants us to understand that the simple, trusting faith of a child is the key to His kingdom.
