David's Daily Devotion for February 29

February 29, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, February 29!

I've been sending out these little thoughts for almost four years now, but today is a first. When I began, in late March 2020 (with the pandemic shut-down), it was a Leap Year. And so, this is my first Leap Day devotional!

I have two friends who were married on Leap Day, and the husband always brags that he only has to buy an anniversary gift every four years. I grew up with a kid born on Leap Day and he loved to joke, when we were teenagers, that he was still just a toddler. Leap Day can be a lot of fun.

But we can also look at today as a "bonus" day, a gift day, a day over and above our usual allotment of time. And so, your question this morning is - what are you going to do with Leap Day? Are you going to make it a "mental health" day, and practice some self-care? Or are you going to turn your focus outward, and do a kindness for a friend, or better yet, for an enemy? Or maybe you'll choose to spend more time than usual in prayer and in The Word.

Those plans all sound good to me. And, as a matter of fact, they sound like good plans for any and every day. And on any and every day we are reminded of this truth from the Psalms.

"This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." (118:24)

Enjoy Leap Day!

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
