David's Daily Devotion for July 14

July 14, 2022 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, July 14.

I visited a group of our youth yesterday in Waco. They're doing a service project, putting a new roof on the home of an elderly widow. The temperature in Waco was 108 degrees, and it probably felt more like 120 up on that roof. Every evening our group gathers with teens from around Texas for worship and preaching. Considering their day job, a good sermon topic might be "the fires of hell"!

It has been a hot, dry summer, with more heat and little rain on the horizon. The other day I heard someone pray for a tropical depression - that was a first. Give us a few more weeks like this, and we might be praying for a category five hurricane.

The Bible was written, largely, by people who lived in hot, dry places. Water was precious and a good well was a blessing. One day, Jesus was sitting beside a well like that, when He said these words - "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
