David's Daily Devotion for July 22

July 22, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, July 22.

As a father, I am painfully aware of the extremely low esteem given to “dad jokes.” On the comedy spectrum they have been relegated to a position somewhere below “knock-knocks.” This is a situation that is both unfair and hurtful, and just one more example of the countless injustices that we fathers must bear (with selfless grace). As a minister, I am also aware that, when it comes to humor, “church jokes” don’t fare much better. So, lower your expectations, here we go... because sometimes you just gotta laugh!

  • Why do melons have to get married in a church? Because they cantaloupe.
  • Why do sci-fi movie makers record laser gun sounds in church? Because they go “pew, pew, pew!”
  • Where was King Solomon’s temple located? On the side of his head.
  • What type of lights did Noah have on the ark? Floodlights.
  • What did Adam say on December 24th? “It’s Christmas, Eve.”
  • I don’t know why some people change churches. What difference does it make which one they stay home from?
  • If you took all the people in the world who fall asleep in church and laid them end to end - they’d be a lot more comfortable.
  • What do you call a book club that’s been stuck on the same book for years? Church.

Psalm 126:2 - Then our mouths were filled with laughter, and our tongues with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things!”

Meet you back here tomorrow,
David
