David's Daily Devotion for July 8

July 8, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, July 8.

I love movies. I’ve always loved movies. These days we most often watch movies in our homes, but I love sitting in a darkened theater with a crowd of people, experiencing a film together. In 1975, I saw a movie with a crowd from my church, a religious film produced by the Billy Graham Association. It’s my favorite religious movie. It’s called “The Hiding Place”.

The year is 1941 and the Nazi’s had invaded Holland. A Christian family decides to hide a family of Jews in their home. German soldiers raid the house but don’t find the “hiding place.” Instead, the Christian family is arrested and sent to a concentration camp. Only one member of the family survives, a young girl named Corrie.

After the war, Corrie Ten Boom lectured around the world about the power of God’s love, about the power of forgiveness. And she wrote a book about her experiences, a book that inspired a movie, a book whose title was inspired by Psalm 32:7.

“You are my hiding place, O Lord. You will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.”

Meet you back here tomorrow,
