June 21, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, June 21.
Each Sunday at 9am, I have the privilege of sharing a Bible lesson over my church's broadcast network. The focus of that lesson last Sunday was the story of a boy named Samuel, a boy who would grow up to be a great prophet of God.
But Samuel's story begins with his mother's story. Her name was Hannah and she was one of two wives of a man named Elkanah. The other wife bore him children, but Hannah was childless. She prayed to God to give her a son, and promised, in return, to give that boy back to God. Hannah was a woman of her word and, with Elkanah's blessing, she gave her precious child to the Lord.
Last Sunday, our worship service featured a parent-child dedication ceremony. As I saw that young mom and dad stand before our congregation with their baby girl, I was reminded that all Christian parents, in a very real sense, give their precious children to God.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son..."
