David's Daily Devotion for June 6

June 6, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, June 6.

7,000 ships, 12,000 planes, 175,000 soldiers, 200,000 sailors, 25,000 paratroopers - the largest seaborne invasion in the history of the world - June 6, 1944... D-Day. A day that led to the liberation of France, then Europe, and 11 months later, the surrender of Nazi Germany. That was 81 years ago and few World War II soldiers are still alive. It falls to us to keep the torch of honor burning. It is our privilege to remember. And today we remember and honor all veterans, and all those currently serving in our Armed Forces.

We remember, also, a song that was a rallying cry during World War II, and remains one of our nation’s favorite patriotic songs 8 decades later. Written by Irving Berlin and made famous by the singer Kate Smith, sing it again with me today.

God bless America, land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with the light from above
From the mountains to the prairies to the oceans white with foam
God bless America, my home sweet home
God bless America, my home sweet home!

Meet you back here on Monday,
David
