David's Daily Devotion for June 9

June 9, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, June 9.

I’m a long time student of poetry. A poem can inspire you, can comfort you, can teach you, can change you. One of my favorite poets is William Blake, an eccentric English genius who was also an accomplished painter and composer. Blake had a complicated and challenging relationship with Christianity, but he also wrote this simple, sentimental poem - “The Lamb”.

Little lamb, who made thee, dost thou know who made thee
Gave thee life and bid thee feed by the stream and o’er the mead
Gave thee clothing of delight, softest clothing wooly bright
Gave thee such a tender voice, making all the vales rejoice
Little lamb, who made thee, dost thou know who made thee

Little lamb, I’ll tell thee, little lamb, I’ll tell thee
He is called by thy name for He calls himself a Lamb
He is meek and He is mild. He became a little child
I, a child, and thou, a lamb, we are called by His name
Little lamb, God bless thee. Little lamb, God bless thee

John 1:29 - And he saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.”

Revelation 5:12 - Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise.

Meet you back here tomorrow,
David
