This Sunday, our Youth Praise Team will be leading us in worship at First Baptist Center. A worship song written in 2018 will be part of that service. It's called "Build My Life". The composer, Pat Barrett, a worship leader in Atlanta, Georgia, was inspired by the story that Jesus told in the famous Sermon on the Mount. You know the story...
"Anyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, the winds blew and beat against the house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was laid upon the rock" - Matthew 7:24-25.
Jesus goes on to tell us about a foolish man who did not follow Jesus' words, and had disastrous results. This story also inspired a song you probably sang as a child - "The Wise Man and the Foolish Man". Perhaps the Apostle Paul was also inspired by the words of Christ when he wrote these words -
"For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ." I Corinthians 3:11.
