David's Daily Devotion for May 17

May 17, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, May 17.

Tonight, I'm going caroling. No, not Christmas caroling! I haven't lost my mind just yet. My adult choir, one Wednesday night each month, skips our usual mid-week rehearsal, and goes caroling, goes out to sing gospel songs in the front yards of shut-ins. It's the best thing since the invention of sliced bread!

This evening, we'll be sharing favorite hymns with our longtime church organist, Alice West, who is no longer able to attend services. It's going to be a sweet time of song, and a fun time of fellowship.

In John 9:4, Jesus says, "I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work." Christ is encouraging us to set right priorities, to make the main thing the main thing, to make the most of our time. I think He's also reminding us that our time is limited. He was certainly aware that His was. We're not promised tomorrow, and neither are the people around us.

Maybe you have someone in your life that has limited time left on this earth. Give them your time, make them a priority, work while it is still day - to encourage them, support them, love them. What better use of our time could there possibly be.

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
