October 28, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, October 28.
Autumn mornings are a blessing. Cool and crisp. Maybe a bit foggy. Perhaps a glimpse of early frost. I’ve been watching the sunrise the last few days from my front porch swing. Mornings in the fall. A blessing.
Are you a morning person? As a kid and a young adult, I was definitely not. A confirmed night owl, I would stay up all hours watching movies, reading, listening to music. And the next morning, I would pay the price when it was time to get up for school or work. And I definitely did not schedule a spiritual quiet time for the early A.M.
But, in my old age, my body clock and sleep cycles have changed. And I’ve come to appreciate the early morning. In addition to enjoying the sunrise, it’s now my time to spend in prayer, in worship, and in the Word. There’s certainly nothing wrong with taking this time at mid-day, or in the evening, or right before bed. But there is something special about the morning.
- Psalm 5:3 - In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
- Isaiah 33:2 - Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning.
- Psalm 143:8 - Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.
- Lamentations 3:23 - His compassions never fail. They are new every morning...
Meet you back here tomorrow,
David
