David's Daily Devotion for September 21

September 21, 2022 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, September 21.

Herbert George Wells was born on September 21, 1866. H.G. Wells is considered one of the greatest science fiction writers in history. But the thing is, most of his "fiction" has turned out to be reality. His over 50 novels were primarily written in the late 1800's and in them he foretold the coming of airplanes, space travel, genetic engineering, television, wireless communication, and the internet. In 1913, 30 years before Hiroshima, he coined the term "atomic bomb".

One of H.G. Well's most famous books was titled "The Time Machine" and it seems like he must have had his own personal time machine, in order to be so amazingly accurate about the future. As for me, I'm not so good at predicting what's going to happen next. How about you? Want to hazard a guess as to what life will be like 50 years from now? In 10 years? Next week? I'm reminded of an old gospel song this morning. Let the lyrics speak to you.

I don't know about tomorrow. I just live from day to day.
I don't borrow from its sunshine, for its skies may turn to gray.
I don't worry o'er the future, for I know what Jesus said.
And today I'll walk beside Him, for He knows what lies ahead.
Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand.
But I know who holds tomorrow, and I know He holds my hand!

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
