September 3, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, September 3.
Summer 2026 has been sort of a two-parter here in Deep East Texas. The first part, June and July, were relatively mild, with regular showers. And then came... August. And day after day of triple digits, dry conditions, burn bans. A typical Texas summer. But yesterday morning, at my house, there was a nice long soaking shower, and an even longer one after dark. Cooling, refreshing rain. What a blessing. Thank you, Father!
Israel has a few areas that see mild temperatures and ample rain, but it is largely a hot, arid region. And so it’s not surprising that the land of the Bible gave rise to many verses that use rain as a positive spiritual symbol, as a metaphor of God’s blessing. On the day after God blessed my area with refreshing showers, here are some refreshing scriptures.
- Psalm 68:9 - You sent abundant rain, O God, to refresh the weary land.
- Hosea 6:3 - He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rains that water the earth.
- Acts 3:19 - Turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.
- Isaiah 45:8 - Shower, O heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain down righteousness. Let the earth open, that salvation and righteousness may bear fruit. Let the earth cause them both to spring up. I, the Lord, have created all of this.
Meet you back here tomorrow,
David
