October 29, 2025 - DETCOG’s Solid Waste Program is now accepting applications! These funds help cities and counties support local cleanup, recycling, and waste reduction projects across Deep East Texas.
Program Highlights:
- Target award: ≈ $10,686.43 (some may be higher or lower, we anticipate 7 total awards)
- Deadline: Physical application must be received by December 9, 2025 at 4:30 PM (Note: Applicants will be asked to give a brief presentation on their proposed projects and respond to questions from the advisory committee on Tuesday, December 16, between 9:00 AM and 12:00 noon.)
- Submission: Please mail or deliver a physical copy of your completed application to DETCOG, 1405 Kurth Drive, Lufkin, TX 75904.
- Resolution required: A Commissioners Court or City Council resolution of support must be included. (Note: Please be aware of the required court or council meeting timelines for passing resolutions, so their applications are not delayed.)
Examples of eligible projects include:
- Community cleanup or collection events
- Recycling drop-off sites or equipment
- Illegal dump cleanups
- Public education campaigns on waste reduction or litter prevention
- Household hazardous waste events
