Dollar General Brings Avenger to Abrupt Stop Sunday

July 31, 2017 - Employees at the Dollar General in Tenaha were startled by a loud bang, and food coolers that were moving away from a wall which got their attention Sunday, July 30, 2017.

According to Deputy Tenaha City Marshal Darren Gray, at 1:30pm an 80-year-old female driving a maroon 2013 Dodge Avenger entered the Dollar General parking lot located on George Bowers Drive. When she attempted to park the vehicle on the side of the building she unintentionally depressed the accelerator instead of the brake.

This caused the Avenger to travel over the sidewalk and travel approximately two feet within the wall of the store. Deputy Marshal Gray arrived on scene followed by ACE EMS personnel who transported the driver to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Center Emergency Department as a precaution.

No citations were reported at the time of the crash.
