March 31, 2025 - The Shelbyville Dragon Band will be competing in the UIL Concert and Sightreading evaluation processes this Wednesday, April 2nd. This competition includes two parts, a stage performance and a sight reading evaluation. Both stages of this process are judged by separate three person panels. The object of this competition is to demonstrate superior musicianship and musical understanding as a large ensemble. All judges will give a rating of 1 through 5 for each performance, 1st division being the best or "Superior." Last year the Dragon Band received straight ones at this competition. Combined with the bands first division ratings during marching contest in the fall, awarded them what is known as a Sweepstakes award, the highest possible accolade. Our band is looking to repeat this honor once again this year.
The Dragon Band will perform on stage at Troup High School at 1:25pm, followed shortly by the sight reading portion. This contest is open to the public.
