February 13, 2019 - Solo and Ensemble Contest was held on February 8-9 in Nacogdoches. At the end of the two-day event, members of the Shelbyville Band program earned a total of 51 superior ratings.
The following middle school students earned a superior rating for their performance(s): Avery Faulkner, Chloe Musico, Jasmine Stutts, Emily Bautista, Alexis Lout, Kendall Murry, Jagger Hudman, EJ Hendrix, Kara Jones, Gracie Slocum, Abby Shofner, Breanna Chambers, Tamryn Murphy, Ava Silva, Zoie Porter, Ryleigh Powell, Gracie Ratcliff, NaKiyah Swindle, Aubree Camp, and Isabella Youngblood.
The majority of the performers, from each participating school, are 7th/8th graders. Shelbyville's 6th-grade band member, Baylee Whiteside performed a flute solo and received a 1st Division rating!
The following high school students earned a superior rating for their performance(s): Kathy Luna, Tanya Santana, Dinova Rose, Dawson Jackson, Eli Taylor, Kurtrick Allen, Kiana Bennett, Samantha Ferrebee, Kelsey Jones, Emily Nicosia, Randall Bailey, Naomi Caporali, Krislynn Joseph, Jaiden Rose, Neena Smith, Maisey Swindle, Kayla White, Jacobi Jackson, John Quintero, H’Leighen McClelland, Jasmine Osby, Hagan Crumpton, Brenda Bautista, and Chassity Davis.
We are DRAGON PROUD of all the band-members that performed at the competition. We are thrilled to take 16 high school students to the STATE contest in May.

Solos were accompanied by pianist Mrs. Dana Lynn Silvey. Shelbyville Band Directors are Deshmond Johnson and Kasi Trent-Ashley.
