May 12, 2025 - Emergency personnel were dispatched to a residence on the 3000 block of CR 2164 in the Dreka Community in reference to a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
Just before 3:30pm, officers and emergency medical services were dispatched to the location.
Marla Denby, Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2, was requested to the scene and she performed the inquest on Mark Wesley Jackson, 52, of Shelbyville, as well as requesting an autopsy.
Jackson was then transported from the scene by Watson & Sons Funeral Home and then to Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences at Dallas.
Karren Price, 123rd District Attorney, has confirmed these details.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department has made no comment, and has not released any information at this time regarding the incident.
