June 22, 2016 - The driver of a truck involved in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon, June 22, 2016 was flown by helicopter to LSU Hospital in Shreveport for treatment of his injuries.

West Shelby Volunteer Fire Department (WSVFD) was first on scene with Shelby County Probation Chief Bradley Wilburn also arriving to direct traffic. Passersby were seeing to the needs of the driver who was laying beneath a guardrail.

As Texas Department of Public Safety State Troopers arrived on scene so did ACE EMS personnel who moved the driver to their ambulance and then to Excelsior ISD where a landing zone was then established with the assistance of WSVFD.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Sean Smith, at 3:20pm Blair Marsh, 48, of Nacogdoches was traveling southbound on State Highway 7 West in a yellow International 4300 truck owned by Reliable Wastewater and hauling a tank when, according to Marsh and eyewitness accounts, he swerved to avoid colliding with a coyote.
