February 16, 2016 - I’m Ricky Allen, candidate for Shelby Country Sheriff in the Republican Primary set for March 1, 2016.
First, I would like to encourage the citizens of Shelby County to get out and vote for the candidate of their choice on Election Day. Many men and woman have sacrificed much, including their lives, so we can have this right.
I was born and raised in Shelby County, and this will always be my home. I am married to Brenda (Lowery) Allen, and we have three children and six grandchildren.
I realize that being the Sheriff will come with a tremendous amount of responsibilities, and I feel that I understand these responsibilities and that I am qualified to react in a professional manner to whatever situation arises.
I have worked in law enforcement for most of my adult life and dealt with numerous situations that will serve me well in carrying out the duties of Sheriff. The majority of my service was spent working for the Texas Department of Public Safety where I retired with the rank of Lieutenant. After retiring in 2003, I continued my law enforcement career through the Nacogdoches and Shelby County Sheriff’s Offices.
For the past two years, I have used my law enforcement skills to work as a private investigator.
At this time, I would like the citizens of Shelby County to know that no decisions have been made in regards to the staffing of the Sheriff’s Office if I am elected. It would be a violation of the law to promise any person a position for assisting in my campaign. I personally know several of the Officers currently working at the Sheriff’s Office and agree that they are good Officers who do their jobs well, and I hope that if elected, they will choose to continue to work for the Sheriff’s Office.
I have been asked by numerous citizens, and again, I want to assure them that no one has been promised any position in the Sheriff’s Office.
In closing, I want to assure all citizens of Shelby County that you will be treated with the upmost respect and all your concerns will be addressed in a fair and professional manner. I ask for your support and consideration during this election season.
