Etola Jones Announces Candidacy for Shelbyville ISD Board of Trustee

April 19, 2021 - To all residents and registered voters of the Shelbyville school district, my name is Etola Jones and I am running for a position on the Shelbyville ISD Board of Trustees.

I have lived in the school district my entire life and am a proud member of the class of 1977. I have served as a trustee for a total of 11 years with part of that time as President of the Board. Before serving as a trustee, I was the Middle School Principal at Shelbyville for 8 years. I consider it a privilege to serve the people of our district and will carry out my duties to the best of my ability.

The students of our district are its greatest asset and deserve an education that will carry them through whatever path they take in life, whether it be college or trade school, starting their own business, joining the military, or becoming a productive member of our community’s workforce. Our county has been tremendously blessed over the years due to the outstanding adults that our school produces.

Our motto is “Proud of the past.... Building for the future.” I truly believe that our school has had board members throughout its history who have made sure that this happened. We’ve had some great Boards in the past, and I feel this fact alone has greatly impacted our school. It starts at the top. So please, get out and make a difference. Vote! And then support the school in any way you can. Our children and grandchildren are worth it.

Early voting begins on April 19th and ends on the 27th during school hours. Election Day is on Saturday, May 1 from 7 am to 7 pm. All voting will take place in the Shelbyville ISD Board Room/ Administration building.
