Fincher Book Signing at Nettie's Nook (Pd Adv)

July 20, 2018 - A book signing by Henry Douglas Fincher, local author at Nettie's Nook, 109 Shelbyville Street.

Fincher and Friends, a great book about Center History. Friday, July 20, 2pm - 4pm.

“Fincher and Friends”,  written by Henry Douglas Fincher,  is a combination of articles and stories about his growing up in a family of ten children during  the late thirties and forties in Center, Texas.  It includes his experiences working for The Rio and Crystal Theatres and washing dishes at Barney Bridges “Deluxe Café”. 

Doug was later Ordained as a Gospel Minister by the First Baptist Church of Center (Dr. Carrol Chadwick, Pastor) and subsequently pastored several “Student Pastorates” including the Patroon Baptist Church, Neuville Baptist Church and the Liberty Hill Baptist Church of San Augustine, Texas. He was later pastor of churches in Oregon, Louisiana and Texas. His Texas  pastorates include First Baptist Church of Mauriceville, First Baptist of Hemphill and Hillcrest Baptist Church of Amarillo and First Baptist Church of Shelbyville. 

His book is a collection of short stories and essays about the people and experiences he has had as a Pastor, a teacher, a photographer and a builder of custom rifles.

Doug writes weekly articles for several newspapers including “Shelby County Today”, “The Sabine County Reporter” and “The San Augustine Tribune”.

His book has 444 pages and 360 photos.  He and Pam worked together for the photographs, the articles and Pam’s computer know how got everything together for their first book.
