Firemen Respond to Truck Fire Monday Afternoon (Video)

June 6, 2016 - The Center Fire Department rushed to a truck on fire emergency call at 2:02pm on Monday, June 6, 2016 on County Road 1017.

First to arrive on scene was Center Fire Chief Keith Byndom and Department of Public Safety State Trooper Keith Jones. The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames and the firemen made quick haste to extinguish the flames. Gasoline which had poured onto the ground presented a problem as it kept the fire fueled. Fireman Nathan Phelps and Glenn Johnson switched to foam in order to put out the flames.

The driver, Jack Edward Tyre, 57 of Center, reported to DPS Trooper Jones that while he was driving his 2004 Nissan on CR 1017 he heard several popping noises and witnessed a small amount of smoke coming from the passenger floorboard. Tyre then exited the pickup to investigate the smoke when the truck became full of smoke and soon erupted in flames.

The truck was a total loss. No injuries were reported and the firemen left the scene around 2:45pm.
