April 16, 2015 - Two F.L. Moffett students became honorary firemen, as much to their delight and to the awe of fellow students, they rode in a Center Fire Department fire truck from school.
Keith Byndom, Center Fire Chief, arrived with the pumper truck at the Center ISD school campus on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 15, 2015 to pick up the students. Once on the fire truck the students got a ride to the fire station where they took a tour of the facility.
Why did these students receive such an honor? The Center Fire Department made a special donation to the Center Rotary Club Fun For Funds event which benefits the Catherine Pinkston Scholarship Fund. During the auction, the winner of the item was Stephenia Preston and she in turn shared the ride with her grandson Ashton and his classmate Casen Ward.
What made it an even greater treat for Ashton was that it was his birthday.
