June 14, 2017 - FM 139 was the scene of a major crash Tuesday, June 13, 2017 in the Huxley area.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Keith Jones, at 5:26pm a red 2002 Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by Dakota Allen Peek, 18, of Center was northbound on FM 139 in front of Lydia Baptist Church.
The Ford approached a curve in the road at an unsafe speed and traveled off the right side of the roadway. Peek took faulty evasive action over correcting left, and as the vehicle returned to the roadway it overturned left and top causing major damage with the vehicle finally coming to rest in the church pastor's yard on the other side of the road facing south.
Peek was transported to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Center Emergency Department by ACE EMS for observation and treatment of minor abrasions.
Peek was issued citations for unsafe speed, and no proof of liability insurance.
