Game & Fish University at Panola College

August 5, 2016 - On Thursday, August 4, 2016, Panola College hosted a reception to announce their new partnership with the Game and Fish University. The evening invited community members to visit with directors at Panola College and with the instructors for the new courses. Instructors include Dr. James C. Kroll, the nation's leading whitetail biologist and manager with over 40 years of experience and more than twelve seasons of being Dr. Deer on the Sportsman Channel. Other instructors include Dr. Billy Higginbotham, Professor and Extension Wildlife & Fisheries Specialist with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service with 40 years of experience in management of private waters for improving fish, and Ben H. Koerth, award-winning scientist and author who has published over 60 articles and currently works as a research associate at the Institute for White-tailed Deer Management and Research.

The Game & Fish University will offer online courses and capstone field experiences in game and fish management. The program provides options designed to fit the individual needs of students at a variety of levels. Students can take course for certification or for personal enrichment. Courses will cover white-tailed deer management, warm water fisheries management, wild pig management, and several other topics.
