In God's Word by Mike Mills, July 12

July 12, 2016 - I often hear people asking; "How do I live a Christian life in America in 2016." So, I have put together some answers to this question.

The great Apostle Paul wrote in (II Timothy 3:16) "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness." Now, let's look at this verse in more modern English for a better understanding; "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and should be used to determine what we believe (doctrine), to voice our disapproval of acts against God's will (reproof), to correct wrong decisions in life (correction), and for teaching God's Word (instruction). We must teach God's Word so that we all will mature in our knowledge of God's Word and so be better prepared to serve God each day ."

The great King Solomon wrote; (Ecclesiastes 12:13) "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments; for this is the sole duty of man." Here is the simple truth of that verse; our lives and our daily travels here on earth should be about fearing God and doing His will, for us, each day. By prayer each day we can know what He wants us to do for Him, by faith we can do it to His satisfaction and for his greater glory. Doing God's will should be our daily goal

How, you may ask do I know what God's will for me is?

We find that answer in the book of Micah. (Micah 6:8) in this scripture a younger man of some means comes and asks the old Prophet just how should he present himself to the Lord for salvation, asking how much he should prepare to sacrifice for the Lord to accept him.

The old Prophet answers him thusly; "He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, to love mercy and too walk humbly with thy God."

Ok, let's say this again for a better understanding of what God requires of us.

"He has shown you O man, what is good, and what does the Lord require of you but, to do unto others as you would have them do unto you, to be a good neighbor, help others when you see them in need and to humble yourself, submit to God's will each day, and not your own wishes or the wishes of men."

Jesus tells us in (Matthew 24:35) "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."

As pilgrims, we are only passing through this land, we are here waiting for His call home or for His return whichever comes first. We are not here to rest our time away, no, we are to spend our days in service to Him, spreading the gospel by our daily living. By being examples of righteous living for others to see. We know from Jesus' words that the Bible is the only thing we need to guide us through this world.

In 2016 we must choose whom we will serve; the God of heaven, or the gods of man which most of our society serves today.

"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." AMEN???

May the Lord God bless you and keep you each day...
