In God's Word by Mike Mills, May 31st

May 31, 2016 - The steadfast hope of God's children, the hope of the return of the Lord to earth, that He will return for us. (Hebrews 6:17-20)

Our duty is to be ready when He comes for us during the Rapture and we will then be with Him, our Lord, during the Kingdom age as He reigns in His new temple in Jerusalem.

Without this steadfast hope there would be no reason to live, no reason to persevere through this cruel and wicked world. But we do have the assurance of His counsel, His oath that He will indeed return for us as He has promised.

Our text helps to understand God's promise; "Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise, the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath," (Heb. 6:17)

He shows us that He does not change (immutable or immutability) nor does He lie.

God made the covenant with Abraham, in it God made both a promise and an oath and His covenant is as true and sure today as it was the day He made it, on that we can rest assured.

"This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, and both sure and steadfast". (Heb. 6:19)

How can we doubt His word, how could we, for even one minute doubt His return, God's Word gives us stability, it gives us security.

You know the Bible never tells us to worry, or to doubt, or to fear; but it does tell us over and over to "trust in the Lord" and to have no fear, for He is with us, always.

One day Jesus will return for us and will remove us from this place and transport us to a most-beautiful place, called heaven. Seven years later He will then return us to this earth to serve Him for 1000 years as He reigns in His Kingdom in Jerusalem. And at the end of the Final Judgment we will then live with Him forever in the new Jerusalem, the new heaven. Oh, the joy, the fullness we will have in the presence of God, the eternal pleasure we will experience with the Lord of Hosts. Forever...

I think every believer hopes to still be alive when Christ returns for His own during the Rapture, we have that much confidence in His promise that we want to be alive to see Him coming in the clouds for us.

The Apostle John may have said it the best of all when he said this; "Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure." (1 John 3:2-3)
