In God's Word: A Time to Come

February 13, 2019 - “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted,” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2)

Time waits for no one but marches on toward the end of the age when all things will change and all things will be made right under the Lord.

When this new age arrives all will see the glory of the Lord and all will know that he is Lord of all and King of kings, but for so many the time will have passed and they will be lost, destined to an eternity of tribulation and distress, while a few will see peace at last.

“There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. For God shows no partiality.” (Romans 2:9-11)

And so I ask you,”Where will you be two hundred years from now? Can you answer that without hesitation, without doubt or question? If the answer is, “I don’t know, or I hope, then the answer is, without repentance,  you will be under that tribulation and distress the scriptures speaks of in (Romans 2:9-11), a very sad place to be.

Jesus said, “I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, while the sons of the kingdom (meaning the kingdom of earth) will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 8:11-12)

I tell you today, that is not the place that anyone would wish to spend eternity, cast away from God forever in torment and agony. But it does not have to be, for God wishes that none should perish but that all should repent and receive everlasting life with him in heaven. Peter tells us as he attempts to save us all from the perils of non-belief as he says; “I am stirring up your sincere mind  by way of reminder, that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.

For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished.

By the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

Do not overlook this fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.” (2 Peter 3:1-10)

And so I ask you again, where will you be two hundred years from now?

I and all other  born-again Christians will be waiting with the Lord.

“But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.” (2 Peter 3:13)

Repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ as Lord now for the day of the coming of the Lord grows closer but no one knows the day nor the hour when he will come...
