Grand Jury Indicts 19 Cases

January 8, 2015 - 19 cases were indicted by a Shelby County grand jury for the January 2015 term of the 273rd Judicial District Court on January 5, 2015.

Five individuals were indicted in relation to an alleged abduction incident investigated by the Shelby County Sheriff's Department which took place on November 4, 2014. Those indicted include: Matthew Lee Anderson, engaging in organized criminal activity, felony one degree higher; aggravated kidnapping, first degree felony; Stuart Laine Bennett, engaging in organized criminal activity, felony one degree higher; aggravated kidnapping, first degree felony; unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, state jail felony; Brittany Danielle Benson, aggravated kidnapping, first degree felony; engaging in organized criminal activity, felony one degree higher; Glenna Leah Benson, aggravated kidnapping, first degree felony; engaging in organized criminal activity, felony one degree higher; and Craig Perez, aggravated kidnapping, first degree felony; engaging in organized criminal activity, felony one degree higher.

Jonathan Delacruz received five separate indictments relating to several burglaries in the Center area. Delacruz was indicted for burglary of a habitation, second degree felony; in relation to the October 2, 2013 theft of several items of jewelry owned by Claudia Mateos. Three indictments against Delacruz for burglary of a building, state jail felony, were presented in relation to three separate incidents which allegedly took place on November 19, 2014. Each indictment relates to burglaries of Rancho Grande Restaurant, Mi Casita Restaurant and American Grill. A fourth indictment relates to a December 2, 2014 burglary of La Mexicana Restaurant.

Kenneth Earl Bolton was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, second degree felony. The indictment alleges on October 6, 2014 Bolton caused bodily injury to Laderrick McCollister by striking him and exhibiting a knife during the assault.

Kenneth Wayne Boyd was indicted for delivery of a controlled substance, first degree felony. The indictment alleges on September 1, 2014 Boyd knowingly possessed with intent to deliver Dihydrocodeinone in an amount of four grams or more but less than 200 grams.

Tobby Mardis was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, state jail felony. The indictment alleges on April 24, 2014 Mardis intentionally and knowingly possessed methamphetamine in an amount less than one gram by aggregate weight including any adulterants or dilutants.

Indictments and Information are not a conviction, and are a matter of public record. All individuals are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
