March 15, 2022 - The Smith County Master Gardeners have once again partnered with Tyler’s Carnegie Public Library to offer the “Master Gardeners at the Library” lecture series, focusing on relevant gardening topics for Smith County and the surrounding area.

This month’s speaker is Greg Grant, Smith County horticulturist for the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Tyler. Mr. Grant’s topic will be "What's all the Flap About," presenting the showiest and most common East Texas butterflies, as well as the plants that host them and provide nectar for them. The in-person lecture will take place Friday, March 18, 2022, at 11:30 am at the Tyler Public Library (201 S. College). Grant is author of Texas Fruit and Vegetable Gardening, Heirloom Gardening in the South, and The Rose Rustlers, and oversees the Rebel Eloy Emanis Pine Savanna and Bird Sanctuary in his own backyard. He is a lifetime member of the Texas Bluebird Society, The Native Plant Society of Texas, and The Big Thicket Society.
