Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas Opens Enrollment For New Families Seeking Child Care Financial Assistance

April 12, 2021 - Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas (WSDET) is accepting applications for Child Care Services to help more families in the region pay for child care. The financial aid is available through federal, state and local funding from the Texas Workforce Commission.

“Helping parents obtain affordable child care is essential to the local and state economy,” said Mark Durand, WSDET executive director. “Child care early learning is a key strategy identified in the Workforce Board’s strategic plan, because a strong foundation of early childhood education will support a child’s continuation into post-secondary education and then into the workforce. Approximately 1,800 children are currently being served through the program, and there is room for more.”

Once enrolled, parents may select among the nearly 100 participating child care providers. Parents are encouraged to visit www.detwork.org or call 1-800-256-1030 to learn more.

  • The person applying for services has primary custody of the child(ren) needing services.
