Hume Briefs Golden Harvest Ministries Club, Vietnam War Fallen

May 17, 2016 - President Joe Anderson called to order the May 16 meeting of the Golden Harvest Ministries Club at 11:30 a.m. with 28 members and guests attending.  Harold Hanson led members in several favorites and all sang "Happy Birthday" to sisters Winnie Preston and Jo Warr who celebrated their birthdays on May 15, and Mike Bordelon who will be 73 on May 24. Joe welcomed our guest Glenda Sallis, daughter of Harold and Naomi Hanson, and recognized our guest speaker, Larry Hume.

Larry HumeAfter a delicious luncheon, Program Chairman Linda Anderson introduced Quartermaster Larry Hume of VFW Post 8094, who keeps patriotism alive in Shelby County.  Mr. Hume gave an account of each of the following 9 Shelby County sons who lost their lives in the Vietnam War along with updates on their relatives: US Army Sergeant William H. Eaden of Timpson, US Army Major Taylor D. Johnson of Joaquin, US Army PFC Ted W. Adams of Timpson, US Army SPC. 4 William L. Andrews of Center, US Army PFC Larry S. Byford of Center, US Army PFC Jerry L. Hughes of Center, US Navy SFC Ray A. Chatelain Jr of Tenaha, US Army PFC Jimmy D. Barnett of Tenaha, and US Army PFC Mac C. Buckley of Center.
 
Special prayers were given for the ill of our community along with faithful members Jim Forbes and Betty Green.
 
The Golden Harvest Ministries Club meets the 3rd Monday of each month at the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church in Center, Texas.  Guests are always welcome to bring a covered dish and enjoy the program and fellowship.
