Hurst Street, Roughrider Drive Scene of Truck-Tractor, Pickup Truck Crash

April 13, 2022 - Hurst Street and Roughrider Drive was the scene of a two-vehicle crash April 8, 2022, involving an 18-wheeler and a pickup truck.

Southbound lanes and part of the northbound lanes were closed until the scene could be cleared to allow for a normal flow of traffic.

According to Center Police Sgt. Andrew Williams, at 10:24am a green 2000 Ford Ranger driven by a 17-year-old male of Hemphill was northbound on Hurst Street attempting to make a left turn onto Roughrider Drive when he failed to yield right of way when entering the intersection when unsafe.

At that time a Tyson white 2022 Mack truck-tractor pulling a feed trailer driven by Harrison Wilson, 68, of Logansport, LA. was southbound on Hurst Street when the Ford entered the intersection and was unable to avoid striking the front passenger side of the Ford causing significant damage. 

The ford came to rest in the middle of the roadway and the truck-tractor came to a stop on the southbound shoulder just past the intersection.

The 17-year-old and Wilson were both transported to Nacogdoches Medical Center - Shelby Emergency Department for treatment of minor injuries.

No citations were issued at the time of the crash.

Center Fire Department, Shelby County Sheriff's Department and Texas Department of Public Safety personnel assisted with traffic control during the crash investigation.

The Ford and the Mack were both towed from the scene.
