Inmate Escapes from Shelby County Jail, Information Sought (Captured)

Giovani AngelMay 25, 2016 - SCT Update: Following a multi-agency foot persuit through thickly wooded area, Angel has been apprehended and is once again in the custody of the Shelby County Sheriff's Department. More information will be provided as it is made available.

At approximately 6:08 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, Giovani Angel, an inside trusty at the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office escaped while putting trash out. Angel was in jail on city charges of arson and burglary of a building.

He is described as a 19 year-old Hispanic male, medium build, 5’10 inches tall, 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He has a mowhawk haircut. Angel escaped wearing orange and white pants and a white t-shirt.

Angel was last seen in the area of Pine Street wearing all black clothing and carrying a black backpack. His last known address was on Park Street in Center.
