December 7, 2021 - Joaquin Christian Services would like to thank all those who participated in the Joaquin Christmas Festival this past weekend.
Crystal Raybon, the entire Sandifer family and a group of local friends had the town decorated beautifully. Many hours went into the preparation for the Christmas season by these folks and they deserve a BIG shoutout.
The parade was outstanding with awards being given in several categories. A gingerbread decorating contest was also enjoyed by many kids and adults. Prizes were given in that contest too. The Cake Walk was well attended. Lots of folks went home with something sweet to eat. It was fun to watch as well as participate in.
We had a good amount of vendors, both food and crafts, clothes and gift items. Most said they made money, which is the reason they came. Hope they will return next year.
We had a great day and a good turn out. Our raffle and auction, supported by the whole of Shelby County was a great success. Many thanks to all who donated to us, especially the East Texas Chopper Guys who sponsored a toy run, food drive as well as the raffle and auction. They are a hard working group of folks and their support is much appreciated. Joaquin Christian Services is a home mission project out of Joaquin First United Methodist Church, helping with electric bills, water bills and any number of other needs of our local needy families. We made close to $6000 to help in those needs.
