March 3, 2025 - The Joaquin High School Girls Powerlifting Team competed in the Region 3 Championships 1A/2A against 37 schools at Commerce High School on February 28, 2025. Three Joaquin lifters placed in the Regional Meet. Paloma Salvador placed 7th in her class with a total weight of 660, Squat 250, Bench Press 150, and Dead Lift 260. Emma Barton placed 8th in her class with a total weight of 695, Squat 265, Bench Press 155, and Dead Lift 275.
Halle Bonner took 1st place in her weight class and advanced to state with a total lift of 1,005. As a senior, this win makes Bonner a three-peat Regional Champion and this will be her fourth trip to State. For the win, her total lift was 1,005 lbs, Squat 385, Bench Press 220, and Dead Lift 400.
She once again set personal records in Dead Lift and Total Lift at the Regional Meet. At a previous meet this year, Bonner set another personal record with a Bench Press of 225.
At last year's Regional meet, her lifts were Squat 390, Bench Press 200, Dead Lift 375, and Total 965 lbs.

She will represent Joaquin as the Regional Champion at the Texas High School Women's Powerlifting State Meet on March 12, 2025 in Edinburg, Texas. 1A/2A competition starts at 8am.
