Joaquin ISD 2023 Veterans Day Program

November 14, 2023 - (Photo Album) - Joaquin Independent School District hosted a Veteran’s Day program on Friday, November 10, 2023.

Student Shelby Freeman offered a welcome to the event.

During the program, veterans were honored with a slideshow depicting many veterans from the area.

Joaquin Elementary School Pre-k students sang for the veterans and presented them each with an American flag. God Bless America was then performed by Cassie Porter.

Veterans present were recognized and each introduced themselves. Those who did so include:

VFW Post 8904 members named and recognized two students of Joaquin ISD who participated in the Voice of Democracy competition and a student who was the winner of the Patriot’s Pen essay contest. 

Patriot’s Pen award winner was Joaquin Junior High School student Alaina Dean. Dean was presented with a medal, certificate and a $100 check for her achievement. Voice of Democracy winners included Lucinda David and Maisyn Moore, who each were presented with a medal, certificate and check for $200 each for their achievements.

Moore and David then read their essays aloud.

The program was brought to a conclusion with Mark Lawrence singing God Bless the USA, accompanied by performances of the Joaquin High School cheerleader squad and Joaquin High School twirlers.
