December 12, 2022 - Maisyn Moore of Joaquin ISD was presented a certificate, a medal and a check for $100 for winning the Voice of Democracy essay contest at the post level during our Veterans Day program. After winning at the post level with her essay entitled "Why is the Veteran Important?," Maisyn's essay then went on to compete and win 1st place at the District 19 Voice of Democracy competition. Maisyn has been invited to a banquet in January where she will be presented a plaque and a check for $500 for her first place District 19 finish. Her entry has now been sent to the Department of Texas VFW for judging at the state level. There, she will compete against 22 other entries for the right to represent Texas at the National Level. Sometime in December, they will announce the top ten finalists that will be invited to the yearly Mid-Winter State VFW Convention. Congratulations Maisyn!
