Joaquin VFD Reports 5 Calls Include 3 Medical, 2 Fire


Saturday, May 20th house fire

May 22, 2023 - The week of May 14th through 20th yielded 5 calls for the Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department. Here’s a summary of the week’s events.

Sunday morning at 9:59am a call was received for male possibly having a heart attack at a residence on Highway 84 East. The JVFD medical team responded to assist Allegiance EMS with the patient.

Sunday evening at 7:19pm a page came in for a male with a severe cut at a residence on Cummings Street. This would later be discovered to be a false alarm.

Monday morning at 11:44am the JVFD was paged to a residence on County Road 3203 for a fall patient. The medical team assisted Allegiance EMS with getting the patient on the stretcher and into the ambulance where they could be transported.

Tuesday afternoon at 12:05pm it was reported that there was a fire in the ditch on the Haslam Strip across from Nu Way. This was discovered to be a control burn.


Saturday, May 20th house fire

Saturday night at 11:03pm a call was received for a house fire on County Road 3605. When the JVFD arrived on scene they found the house fully engulfed in flames and immediately began an exterior attack. With the aid of DeSoto Fire District 1, the JVFD was able to knock down the fire within a couple of hours. The occupant of the house was able to escape the fire but unfortunately, the house would be a complete loss.
