January 29, 2024 - Over the week of January 21st through 27th the Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department had 5 calls. Here’s a summary of the week’s events.
Tuesday at 4:17pm a page was received for a single vehicle accident at the Flat Fork Creek Bridge. The driver of a white sedan lost control of the vehicle and collided with the guard rail at the end of the bridge, eventually coming to a stop on the opposite side of the road. Both of the vehicle’s occupants were seen to by Allegiance EMS for non life-threatening injuries, and the vehicle was later towed away.
Wednesday had 3 calls including a lift assist at 11:18am on County Road 3460, a tree across the roadway on FM 139 at 12:01pm, and an elderly patient struggling to breathe on County Road 3801 at 6:41pm. The medical calls were resolved with help from Allegiance EMS and the tree call was resolved with help from good samaritans and later TxDOT.
Thursday a call was received at 2:34am for a salt water truck blocking the road on FM 139. The driver attempted to turn off of County Road 3326, but the back wheels of his loaded trailer fell off into the ditch creating a potentially dangerous situation if he continued to drive forward. A secondary truck arrived to take the load off the compromised truck, and a tow truck was able to pull the trailer back up onto the road. The JVFD was present on scene to control traffic.
With that, this edition of the report will come to a close. The Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department hopes everyone has a great and safe week ahead.
