Joey Hudnall Announces Candidacy for Shelby County Sheriff

January 11, 2019 - My name is Joey Hudnall and I am proud to announce my candidacy for Shelby County Sheriff on the Republican ticket.

My wife, Tina, and I are the proud parents of five children and three granddaughters. I proudly serve my church; Impact Cowboy Church on the Rodeo Ministry Team and Horses for Hearts. I was raised in Shelby County by family who have deep ties in Shelby County law enforcement.

After graduating from Shelbyville ISD in 1988, I went on to proudly serve my country during Desert Storm as a member of the U.S Air Force Military Police. I left the military to come back to Texas to serve as a Law Enforcement Officer. I graduated from the police academy in 1993 and have had the honor of protecting numerous communities including Shelby and Orange counties along with the Deep East Texas Narcotics Trafficking Task Force where I worked undercover and interdiction in all areas of narcotic trafficking, assisted Garrison and Center with getting drug dealers off of the streets.

I am currently Captain of the Tenaha PD and have been successful in the elimination of a large number of drugs being brought through our county as well as getting numerous drug dealers off of the streets in Tenaha. I have extensive training in Law Enforcement including having the privilege of training in Quantico, Va. with the DEA as well.

In addition to the 20 plus years in law enforcement I have also worked in the oil field as a District Manager for East Texas, South Texas, and Louisiana. During my time in the oil field I oversaw numerous employees, handled multimillion dollar accounts, and made sure all employees were properly trained.

As Sheriff I will bring honesty, integrity, unity, and will focus on serving Shelby County with the same wholesome values that I was raised with. I will serve Shelby County by working in the field just like the rest of SCSO deputies. I intend to work side by side with other local law enforcement agencies, including our surrounding counties, to assure the safety and wellbeing of the citizens of Shelby county. I will use my experience and extensive training to make Shelby county a safer place to live and to help eliminate the ever growing drug problem in our county. I have proudly served my country, the state of Texas, and it will be an honor to serve as sheriff of this great county. Together we can make a difference. I am the change you need and the voice that you deserve.
